Connect Shopify product knowledge

Sync your Shopify catalog so the AI can answer product and order questions accurately.

Connecting Shopify syncs your product catalog into ADS Helpdesk so the AI and your agents have accurate product context when customers ask.

Before you start

Important: Like WooCommerce, Shopify catalog storage is tied to your real-time channels. Create at least one live chat or voice inbox first. See Add the live chat widget.

Step 1: Create a Shopify Admin API access token

  1. In Shopify admin → Settings → Apps and sales channels → Develop apps, create (or open) a custom app.
  2. Under Configuration → Admin API, grant read access to products (for example read_products).
  3. Install the app and copy the Admin API access token.

Step 2: Add the store in ADS

  1. Go to Admin → Store knowledge.
  2. Choose Shopify and enter your store domain (for example yourstore.myshopify.com).
  3. Paste the Admin API access token.
  4. Save, then Sync to import your products.

ADS Helpdesk keeps the catalog up to date on a schedule after the first sync.

Step 3: Confirm it worked

Check the product count and last-synced time in Store knowledge, then ask a test question in chat to confirm the AI references live catalog data.

Troubleshooting

  • Auth errors: confirm the access token is correct and the app has product read scopes.
  • No products: verify the store domain is the *.myshopify.com domain and that the app is installed.
  • Need both stores? You can maintain store knowledge alongside other knowledge sources.
